Let us inform you that the European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights (the EU Observatory), which is acting at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) published a new edition of “The Observatory Newsletter” (December, 2016).

The cover story of this issue of the newsletter provides the most important data from the study of “IPR-Intensive Industries and the Economic Efficiency in the European Union”, which was already reported to the interested public on this web site, pointing out that this study, representing the second EU-wide edition of the study published in 2013, confirmed an increase in the contribution of intellectual property rights to the European economy in terms of GDP, employment, wages and trade.

Furthermore, the newsletter provides the news about the European Commission, pursuant to the Regulation (EU) No. 386/2012, launching an evaluation of the EU Observatory covering the years 2012 to 2015.  The newsletter also provides the information on the EU Observatory having published its Work Programme for 2017.

There is given an overview of education training activities held in the previous period, a review of the Christmas media campaign of the EU Observatory, as well as other topics in relation to the enforcement of intellectual property rights.
